First, I explored many different image options.
Finally, after asking many of my peers, I found that the image that most people agreed represented the genre was the below image:
To this, I added my previously written article for the magazine. This was simple as I wanted to keep the font easy to read and black against the white background. I also arranged the font so that it was in columns like real magazines. I used a font setting that spread the words out so that all of the lines lined up perfectly.
At the bottom of the page I added two blue lines at the bottom of the page to tie in the blue in the image and the white section of the double page spread. This links the two pages together, this is needed due to the page being split in half with the image on one side and the article on the other.
This is also a way to tie in the two pages. This is a longer drop quote to give an insight to the article.
To make the drop capital part of the article, I made it more transparent. I also made this the same font as cover stars name. This makes the the whole article link together and shows that there is a house style and distinctive theme.
This bold black font is for the 'introduction' to the article. This is separate to the article and is separated by the line that is in blue also.
Below was the original final double page spread. After feedback I changed a few things to match to the feedback I got. For example, I changed the two lines at the top to just the two lines on the right. This is so that the simplistic look was kept throughout.
